Homel woman left a newborn in a cesspool: the investigation is completed

January 24, Gomel. The Gomel city department of the Investigative Committee has completed the investigation of a criminal case on the attempted murder of a newborn, Maria Krivonogova, official representative of the USC in the Gomel region, told a BelTA correspondent.

According to the investigation, a 26-year-old resident of Gomel, being in her last month of pregnancy, lived with her mother. On the night of October 15 last year, the woman showed signs of an approaching birth. In the morning, the mother offered to call an ambulance, but the Gomel woman refused. Relatives drank two glasses of vodka and went to work at a recycling center - to sort and wash bottles, to press paper.

At the reception point, a birthday colleague treated the women to vodka. Then they set to work. A pregnant woman from Gomel briefly went into a public toilet several times in a short period of time. “Before the last entry, she took off her jacket. Over the cesspool of the restroom, the woman independently gave birth to a viable child, left him to die and hurriedly returned home,” the UK said.

After some time, the newborn was found by a receptionist and bottle sorter. Witnesses called the Ministry of Emergency Situations and an ambulance. The child was taken to the hospital with signs of general hypothermia and hemorrhagic shock due to blood loss due to bleeding from the umbilical cord. The boy received the necessary medical care. Now his life and HEALTH are not in danger.

Police officers quickly detained the suspect at home and took her to the hospital. The woman was diagnosed with premature birth, chronic nicotine intoxication and ALCOHOL dependence. The concentration of ethyl alcohol in the blood of a woman in labor was 1.91 ppm.

The Gomel city department of the Investigative Committee opened a criminal case against a resident of Gomel. During the investigation, the woman changed her testimony, trying to justify her act, did not repent, was not interested in the condition and fate of the child. The woman confessed to the deed when she was finally charged and acquainted with all the materials of the case, including the conclusions of forensic medical examinations. According to the defendant, the pregnancy was unwanted for her. She was convinced to save the child by her cohabitant, who was then sent to an LTP for treatment for ALCOHOLISM.

The official representative noted that earlier a resident of the regional center had already been brought to criminal responsibility - for theft and evasion from serving a sentence in the form of restriction of freedom. The woman was not employed, abused alcohol, including during pregnancy. “Several years ago, she already had an experience of an unwanted pregnancy, which ended in childbirth in a medical institution and the official abandonment of the child,” Maria Krivonogova added.

According to the conclusion of the inpatient complex psychological and psychiatric examination, the accused at the time of the crime suffered from a mental disorder requiring treatment, and could not fully realize the significance of her actions and manage them.

The Gomel woman was charged with attempted murder of a minor with special cruelty. The criminal case was transferred to the prosecutor's office to be sent to COURT.
