March 11, Minsk. Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko spoke about the conditions under which the price regulation system will change in an interview with the Question Number One program on the TV channel, BelTA informs.
When asked whether sufficient measures have been taken at the moment to regulate prices and curb inflation, he replied: “For the time being, we believe that they are sufficient. Perhaps at some point they will become redundant. But this will happen only when all the entities involved in price formation, they will learn to work fairly. As soon as we see that the situation with pricing has fully returned to normal and the price is formed fairly, without chasing super profits and laying huge costs in the cost price, of course, then the price regulation system will also be modernized. But for now , in my opinion, it is optimal, sufficient.Roman Golovchenko drew attention to the fact that the current system of price regulation has already borne fruit. "Inflation is declining in annual terms. And this is taking into account the planned increase in excise taxes on tobacco, alcohol and a number of other regulated items. Now we see that fruit and vegetable products are becoming cheaper. With warming, this main driver of price growth in the winter period will disappear. I am sure that we will complete the task , which was outlined by the President (inflation is not more than 7-8% for the current year. - Note by BelTA), we can do it. There are no other factors that would put pressure on prices now. Everything is calm with exchange rate formation, with gold and foreign exchange reserves, deposits population," he said.
