GAI of Brest region will strengthen supervision on rural roads

November 18, Brest. Employees of the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Brest region from November 19 to 21 will strengthen the supervision of traffic in rural areas, BelTA was told in the traffic police department of the regional executive committee.

Patrol routes of inspectors will be close to unregulated pedestrian crossings and educational institutions, as well as roads with heavy pedestrian and cycling traffic.

Law enforcement officers will pay special attention to identifying drunk drivers, reckless drivers and powerless people. The most vulnerable road users, namely pedestrians and their violation of traffic rules, will also be in the field of view of law enforcement officers. Traffic police officers will respond to the presence of citizens on the roadway without retroreflective elements or in a state of intoxication .

Since the beginning of the year, 50 accidents have been registered on local roads in the Brest region, as a result of which 15 people died and 52 were injured of varying severity. There were 12 accidents due to the fault of drunk drivers. Directly on the territory of rural settlements, 34 accidents were registered, as a result of which 7 people died, 31 were injured. In six cases, drunk drivers were responsible for the accident.
