Two people have died since the beginning of the year in an accident caused by drunk drivers in the Minsk region

March 31, MINSK. Since the beginning of the year, four accidents have occurred in the Minsk region due to the fault of drunk drivers, in which two people died and three were injured. BelTA was informed about this by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee.

In total, since the beginning of the year, state traffic inspectors have identified 555 drunk drivers on the roads of the Minsk region. it should be noted that the penalties for them have become tougher. Citizens who, during a medical examination, have found up to 0.8 ppm in their blood (there were 103 of them), under Article 18.15 of the Administrative Code, face a fine of 100 basic units (1 BV - Br37) and deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for 3 years, more than 0.8 ppm (297 people) - 200 BV and deprivation of a driver's license for 5 years.

Responsibility is also borne by persons who transferred the right to drive a car to a person who is in a state of intoxication . Since the beginning of the year, 17 such drivers have been identified. As part of the criminal law, the car is seized and the car is placed in a car impound.

In the Minsk region, there is a tendency to reduce the number of accidents and citizens injured in accidents caused by drunk drivers. So, since the beginning of the year, there have been 4 accidents in the region involving drivers who got behind the wheel while intoxicated: in Vileika district (1), Minsk district (2) and Old Roads (1). As a result of the accident, two people died and three were injured of varying degrees of severity. During the same period last year, there were 10 such accidents, in which 7 people died and 4 were injured.

The State Traffic Inspectorate, in addition to specialized raid activities, constantly monitors the condition of drivers. Much attention is also paid to the lawless. This year, traffic police officers identified 2106 people who did not have the right to drive vehicles, of which 229 were caught again during the year. Identified 30 drivers who can be prosecuted for such an offense.
