Livestock farms of the Irkutsk region purchased about 4 thousand breeding animals in 2021

In 2021, the livestock farms of the Irkutsk region purchased over 1.1 thousand heads of breeding heifers and heifers, as well as 2.8 thousand heads of breeding minks. This was announced by the Minister of Agriculture of the Irkutsk region Ilya Sumarokov.
The head of the department explained that every year agricultural producers of the Irkutsk region carry out appraisal (assessment) of cattle and purchase breeding animals from other regions of Russia, where the productivity of animals is higher. This is done to improve the genetic potential of dairy and beef cattle. At the same time, in order to improve the productivity of animals in farms of all categories, the breeding organizations of the Angara region sell young breeding stock both within the region and beyond.
“In 2021, the average productivity of cows in agricultural organizations in the Irkutsk region increased by 1.3% and amounted to 6313 kg per head. The productivity of cows in breeding farms is 7059 kg, and in breeding plants - 8064 kg per head,” said Ilya Sumarokov.
According to the minister, cattle in 2021 were purchased in the region from breeding farms in the Sverdlovsk and Ivanovo regions and the Krasnoyarsk Territory. A farm in the Udmurt Republic became a supplier of breeding minks.
In turn, the breeding farms of the region sold over 1.7 thousand heads of breeding young animals, including 856 heads outside the region. The main buyers of cattle from the Angara region are agricultural producers of the Amur Region, Primorsky Territory, Krasnoyarsk Territory, and the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). Beef cattle are purchased by the farms of the Republic of Buryatia.
Work to improve the productivity of animals in the region continues. In 2021, new breeding farms were created in the Angara region: on the basis of SibAgro LLC - for breeding cattle of the Hereford and Kalmyk breeds, on the basis of Molochnaya Reka LLC - for breeding Holstein cattle. Currently, there are 26 breeding organizations in the Irkutsk region engaged in breeding cattle, pigs, minks, as well as scientific and laboratory research.
