The wintering of 2021/2022 in all categories of farms in the Stavropol region included 288 thousand heads of cattle and 1.4 million heads of small cattle.
“As long-term practice shows, the wintering of cattle in the Stavropol Territory is successful if it was preceded by a lot of preparatory work. It is based on the procurement of coarse and succulent fodder, which has already been completed in the Stavropol Territory. Now the level of livestock productivity will depend on the balance in the diet of agricultural animals. As you know, 50-80% of it is determined by feeding,” said Alexei Krisan, Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Stavropol Territory.
For feeding animals in the farms of the region, 1.6 million tons of roughage, 328 thousand tons of succulent feed and about 380 thousand tons of concentrated feed have been prepared. These figures are 40-60% higher than the requirement. In addition, agricultural producers of the region have formed an insurance stock of feed. Today it exceeds 500 thousand tons of roughage and 100 thousand tons of succulent feed. This food reserve can be used in case of a shortage of feed in the farms of the region.
In the farms of the Neftekumsky district, where sheep breeding is most developed, 331.5 thousand sheep, 203 thousand poultry and 18.1 thousand cattle have entered the wintering. For their accommodation, work has been completed on cleaning and repairing livestock buildings, bases, maternity wards - a total of 233 different buildings have been prepared.
“Veterinary and preventive measures have been taken at livestock farms. The farms are staffed with livestock breeders. Harvested fodder - hay, straw, grain fodder are located at the wintering grounds, ”said Svetlana Salomatina, senior inspector of the Neftekumsky district agriculture department.
In addition, a new procedure for providing subsidies for the purchase of feed for the needs of dairy cattle is currently being developed. The rate will be calculated for 1 ton of purchased fodder differentiated by type of fodder (hay, haylage, silage, mixed fodder, etc.).
“For these purposes, about 91 million rubles have been allocated in the regional budget. We plan to pay the subsidy before the end of December this year,” explained Alexei Krisan, Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Stavropol Territory.
