A South Ural resident successfully performed at the Open Ploughing Championship

At the XII Open Russian Ploughing Championship, Pavel Kovalev from the Chelyabinsk Region entered the top twenty best machine operators in the country, demonstrating excellent professional skills and focus on results among 58 participants.
The tractor driver competition was held from August 8 to 10 in the Leningrad Region in the Vsevolozhsk District.
The championship was organized by Rosagroleasing JSC and the Government of the Leningrad Region with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation. In 2025, the championship was dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
Pavel Kovalev is the winner of the 2023 Chelyabinsk Region tractor driver competition, has been working as a machine operator in the farm of IP Kovaleva A.O. in the Verkhneuralsky Municipal District since 2008. According to the results of the XII Open Ploughing Championship, Pavel took 16th place, having completed almost all the competition tasks perfectly.
The championship program included final competitions, extreme tractor races – “Tractor Show”, as well as business events and cultural and mass entertainment. A special place was occupied by celebrations where front-line soldiers and home front workers were honored. Each day of the championship received its own name: August 8 – Patriotic Day, August 9 – Day of Military Glory – the day of the end of the Battle of Leningrad, August 10 – Youth Day.
The winner of the championship in the “Plowing” stage – machine operator Sergey Zakharov from Penza Oblast – received an “MTZ-82.3” tractor as a reward, and the winner of the “Tractor Show” – Viktor Basargin from the Altai Republic – a “Niva” passenger car. The winners who took 1st, 2nd and 3rd places also received cash certificates. The other participants were awarded memorable prizes. The winners and participants were awarded by the Governor of the Leningrad Region Alexander Drozdenko, the General Director of JSC Rosagroleasing Pavel Kosov and representatives of dealer companies selling agricultural machinery.
The best machine operators from 39 regions of the Russian Federation, as well as from friendly countries, took part in the Open Ploughing Championship. The participants trained and competed on modern tractors of the same model of traction class 1.4 using two-body reversible plows.
