The farms of Transbaikalia have prepared 54 thousand hectares of clean fallows for the harvest of 2022

According to the results of 2021, agricultural enterprises of the Trans-Baikal Territory prepared clean fallows on an area of about 54 thousand hectares, said Alexander Tyukavkin, deputy head of the regional agricultural department.

“The preparation of fallows for next year's harvest was carried out in 22 municipal districts. In the outgoing year, the abundance of precipitation and waterlogging of the soil held back seasonal work on the preparation of low-productive arable land. As a result, 54 thousand hectares of fallows have been prepared. At the same time, in the past year, agricultural organizations put into circulation 22,000 hectares of fallow lands - as a result, 76,000 hectares are ready for sowing,” said the Deputy Minister.

He noted that holding cultural and technical events in the conditions of Transbaikalia plays a key role in obtaining a good harvest.

“It is important to take the quality preparation of clean fallows seriously, and our agricultural organizations understand this. Even in the absence of precipitation in the spring, fallow land has good reserves of productive moisture in the arable soil layer at a depth of 4-6 centimeters. Poorly prepared fallows lead to a sharp decrease in yield and, in general, instability of the grain economy,” explained Alexander Tyukavkin.
