Farms of seven districts of Transbaikalia have started harvesting fodder

Agricultural producers of seven municipal districts of Transbaikalia have begun harvesting fodder for the wintering of livestock, said Denis Bochkarev, HEAD of the regional agrarian department.
“Since August 1, haymaking has been carried out by the farms of Karymsky, Krasnochikoysky, Nerchinsky, Sretensky, Chitinsky, Shilkinsky and Aginsky districts. In total, 8.5 thousand tons of hay have been harvested to date. it should be noted that the timing of the start of the forage harvesting campaign in Transbaikalia has shifted slightly due to heavy rainfall at the end of July. It is expected that farmers from almost all regions of the region will begin haymaking next week,” the minister said.
In general, the plan for the procurement of roughage for the upcoming wintering of livestock in farms of all categories of Transbaikalia is 945 thousand tons. Agricultural organizations and farmers plan to harvest 282 thousand tons, owners of private farms will have to mow 663 thousand tons of hay.
