Temporarily suspended import of tomatoes and peppers to Russia from the Tashkent region (Uzbekistan)

From July 22, 2021, the ROSSELKHOZNADZOR introduces temporary restrictions on the supply of tomatoes and peppers to RUSSIA from the Tashkent region (Uzbekistan).

“Suspension of deliveries is connected with the next detection of brown wrinkling of tomato fruits (Tomato brown fruit virus) (ToBRFV), as well as Pepino mosaic virus in tomatoes imported from this region,” the report says.

Restrictions are introduced on the basis of the VII International Convention on Plant Quarantine and Protection and the Federal Law of the Russian Federation "On Plant Quarantine".

it is noted that batches shipped before July 22 are allowed to be imported into Russia only after passing a quarantine phytosanitary examination.

“The issue of access of Uzbek fruit and vegetable products to the Russian market will be considered after an investigation by the National Plant Protection Organization (NPPO) of Uzbekistan on each case of detection, as well as the provision by the Uzbek side of a list of enterprises that guarantee the absence of objects quarantined for EAEU member countries, including the virus brown wrinkling of tomato fruits and pepino mosaic virus,” the Rosselkhoznadzor said.
