
Seeds of various agricultural crops were sown on about 880 thousand hectares.
Taking advantage of favorable weather conditions during the May holidays, farmers of the Rostov region have significantly increased the area of spring sowing.
“Don agrarians celebrated the May Day holidays with active spring field work, during this time about 200 thousand hectares were sown with spring crops,” commented Viktor Goncharov, First Deputy Governor of the Rostov Region. - To date, the spring sowing area has already amounted to 876 thousand hectares, or 51% of the planned volume. Precipitation should have a positive effect on the vegetation of both winter and spring crops.”
According to the latest data from the Don Ministry of Agriculture and Food, more than 480 thousand hectares have been sown with grain, which is 74% of the plan. Moreover, early grain crops were sown 97% of the planned. Farmers have sown more than 350 thousand hectares with industrial crops, which is 37% of the planned figure.
Due to favorable weather conditions, agricultural enterprises and farms of the central irrigated zone have already sown vegetables and potatoes on more than 73% of the sown area.
In terms of the sown area, the leadership is held by the Zernogradsky district, where spring crops have already been sown on more than 53 thousand hectares. Agriculture came in second place with a small margin, sowing more than 50 thousand hectares. The top three is closed by the Peschanokopsky district. More than 43 thousand hectares have been sown here.
In addition to the sowing campaign, the entire range of spring field work is carried out on the Don fields.
