
Oleg Dolgikh, head of the regional department of agriculture, reported on the progress of sowing work at a meeting of the operational headquarters, which was held yesterday by Russian Minister of Agriculture Dmitry Patrushev.
The sowing campaign is gaining momentum. To date, 48 thousand hectares have been sown with spring crops and annual grasses. 490 thousand hectares are planned for spring grain and leguminous crops in 2023.
Spring wheat is sown in 17 districts. The area under it this year has been increased to 214 thousand hectares. 22.4 thousand hectares have already been sown. Barley is located on 20.9 thousand hectares in 16 districts. In total, 180 thousand hectares are allocated for barley. Peas are sown in 7 districts. 18.5 thousand hectares are planned for it this year. Area under peas increased by 34%. At the moment, 4 thousand hectares have been sown with peas.
Work on sowing annual grasses is being carried out in 5 districts. They are to be placed on an area of 11.9 thousand hectares.
In some areas, farmers are beginning to sow spring rapeseed and sugar beets.
The first top dressing of winter crops is coming to an end. It is completed on 97% of the area. “We were very concerned about the state of winter crops,” said Oleg Dolgikh. – But today we can safely say that winter crops are in good and satisfactory condition. Reseeding is not planned.
There are no problems with fuel and lubricants. Prices for some items are even lower than last year.
