First Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Dagestan Sharip Sharipov, accompanied by the head of the Department of Agriculture of the Khasavyurt district, Idris Zagalov, visited a number of horticultural farms in this municipality in order to study the situation and determine the forecast for fruit production this year. We visited the farms of Arslankhan LLC and Farmer SPK, which are located in the village of Botashyurt.
"Arslankhan" LLC relies mainly on the cultivation of stone fruit crops - there are cherry (7.5 ha), plum (6 ha) and cherry (1.5 ha) plantations. Part of the gardens is reserved for pome crops, quince is grown on 1 hectare, apple trees on 5 hectares. In total there are 21 hectares of gardens. According to the head of the farm, Baitazi Arslankhanov, there are already buyers who intend to take the first harvests of stone fruits to a number of neighboring regions of our country. He believes that the main factor for success in gardening is the timely completion of care work. All work in the gardens is carried out in accordance with the technological map, this approach to business gives the expected return. It is planned to expand the garden area by another 10 hectares.
Another farm, SPK "Fermer" has 60 hectares of gardens, planted in 2019. There are 12 hectares of cherry, 3.5 hectares of plum and 34.5 hectares of apple orchards. They implemented drip irrigation projects as part of participation in state support through the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Dagestan. Care and other activities are carried out with the invitation of consultants - gardening experts. This year, the orchards should begin to bear fruit, the head of the farm, Rashid Hamidov, is determined to get the first harvest from young plantations. The invested efforts and funds made it possible to bring fruit trees to the age of fruiting in good condition. The forecast for the harvest pleases the owner, there are already potential buyers.
“I visited the gardens of the SPK Farmer back in 2020. I expressed a number of wishes and instructions to the head of the economy. Today, what we saw impressed us, we see that a good harvest is expected. This means that the decisions made by the federal Ministry of Agriculture and the regional Ministry of Agriculture and Food work for the result. Our gardeners have the opportunity to strengthen their economy, this stimulates the growth of plantings, as well as the involvement of potential investors in the industry. As a result, to please domestic consumers with the volume and quality of fruit products. Dagestan is the leader in the country in terms of production of stone fruits. This is a plum, and a cherry, and an apricot, and a peach. There are favorable conditions for their cultivation in the republic. Our growers are waiting to organize deliveries, as, for example, in these farms,
As the head of the district agricultural department Idris Zagalov noted, there are 2,200 hectares of orchards in the Khasavyurt district, of which 1,708 hectares are in fruit-bearing age. Since 2015, the district has been actively involved in the intensive horticulture development program. To date, there are more than 600 hectares of intensive type orchards in the region, which give a larger harvest, although they require more strenuous care. There is a program for the development of horticulture in the region, and we intend to continue to use the opportunities for increasing production.
According to Sharip Sharipov, in Dagestan the area of perennial fruit and berry plantations is 28.8 thousand hectares, of which almost 22 thousand hectares are in fruit-bearing age. In recent years, the republic has been actively engaged in the development of intensive horticulture, which has made it possible to increase the area of such gardens to 4,000 hectares. This direction is developing most intensively in Khasavyurt, Suleiman-Stalsky, Kizilyurt, Derbent, Magaramkent and a number of other regions.
“Dagestan retains a huge potential for the development of the horticulture industry, the measures taken and the support provided make it possible to increase the supply of quality products to the food market. In the policy of supporting the development of horticulture, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Dagestan takes into account the opportunities of investors and the natural and climatic features of the territories. The end result is important - it's a good harvest. Therefore, we rely on both planting traditional gardens and laying perennial plantings using intensive and super-intensive technology,” the First Deputy Minister noted.
