In the Voronezh region, the area of orchards in agricultural enterprises and peasant farms (industrial gardens) is 11.8 thousand hectares, of which 7.5 thousand hectares are in fruit-bearing age. The gross harvest of fruit and berry products amounted to 63.5 thousand tons with a yield of 84.7 q/ha.
Since 2008, the region's farms have planted 7.9 thousand hectares of orchards, of which 5.8 thousand hectares or 73.4% are intensive. More than 67% of existing industrial gardens have been replaced. Along with intensive gardening, organic gardening is also developing in the region. About 500 hectares are currently undergoing conversion.
Today, new berry shrub crops are being planted in the industrial horticulture of the region - these are blueberries, honeysuckle, currants, gooseberries, chokeberries. Sea buckthorn is planted, as well as non-traditional nut fruits for the region: walnut, hazel. The areas of stone fruit crops began to expand: cherries, sweet cherries, plums.
Every year, the laying and care of fruit and berry crops are subsidized from the federal and regional budgets. In 2021, 260 million rubles were allocated (federal - 221 million rubles, regional - 39 million rubles). The regional demand for fruit and berry products is planned to be closed in 2025.
