More than 210 thousand tons of grain were collected in the Vologda region

The results of the work of the agricultural sector were announced at the final meeting with agricultural producers in the regional capital.
During the 2023 agricultural season, farmers in the region collected 211 thousand tons of grain. Compared to 2022, the collection volume increased by 32 thousand tons, or 18%.
“The regional government pays great attention to programs to support agriculture, including providing agricultural producers with subsidies for the development of crop production. In 2023, 716.4 million rubles were allocated for these purposes (product production, seed production, land reclamation measures). This year we will continue to provide state support to the region’s farmers,” commented First Deputy Governor of the region Yuri Umerenko.
The main share of the harvested grain is occupied by feed barley – 68%. The rest comes from crops such as wheat - 16.4%, oats - 11.8% and legumes - 3.8%.
This result was achieved thanks to improved technology for growing grain crops - the use of new promising varieties with high germination for sowing, the application of organic and mineral fertilizers, and good care of crops.
The average yield for the region was 23.4 c/ha. The best results were obtained in five municipal districts: Gryazovetsky, Vologda, Kirillovsky, Sokolsky and Mezhdurechensky.
Basically, the produced grain is used by enterprises for their own needs - for the preparation of feed for cattle .
