In Udmurtia, kiwi is grown and Hungarian mangalits are bred

Apricots, watermelons, grapes, melons, plums have taken root in Udmurtia. The villagers even grow kiwi, and also keep Hungarian mangalica and duck-geese. All this was revealed by the 2021 Agricultural Microcensus held in August.

During the month, statisticians in total polled more than 230 thousand household plots and 425 non-profit dacha associations. 429 agricultural organizations and 789 peasant farms filled out the census sheets on their own.

Experts noted that the owners of private farmsteads reacted kindly and with understanding to this important state event. The number of refusals was only 0.5% of the total number of households subject to the microcensus.

The census takers asked about the number of people employed in household plots, about the area of the plot. There are only ten questions about how much production goes on sale and how much remains for personal consumption. At the same time, the homeowner was not obliged to confirm his words, and the census takers did not record the name of the respondent, all information was transmitted in an anonymized form. To clarify the data received from the census takers, the instructors still carried out a control tour until September 6. At least 1% of respondents were re-interviewed.

The micro-census showed that in the personal farmsteads of the republic they prefer to grow potatoes, onions, beets and carrots. Most of the interviewed respondents showed that they do not keep cows, sheep, but prefer poultry.

The census also showed that in Udmurtia, oddly enough, they grow kiwi, apricots, watermelons, grapes, melons, plums. In the Yukamensky district, scribes found mulards - a cross between musky duck drakes and domestic ducks of the "Peking white" breed. And in the private household plots of the Sharkansky district, for some time now you can meet a new breed of domestic pigs - the Hungarian mangalitsa, and an unusual type of poultry - duck-geese.

Processing of the received data by Udmurtstat continues.
