Intermediate results of the work of agricultural enterprises engaged in selection and breeding work in the field of dairy cattle breeding were summed up in Udmurtia.
243.6 thousand tons of MILK were produced by breeding reproducers and factories of Udmurtia in the first nine months of 2021 - this is one of the results they achieved during this period. The TOP-3 milk producers in the breeding sector included SHPK "Kolos" of the Vavozhsky district - 25 thousand tons, LLC "Mir" of the Votkinsky district - 16 thousand tons and JSC "Oshmes" of the Sharkansky district - 12.8 thousand tons.
40 breeding farms today provide 38% of the total gross milk yield in the republic. And as the analytics show, at the end of 2020 they grew by 10%. For the nine months of the current one, they provide dynamics of 7.8%. The share of breeding animals of dairy breeds in the total population reached 34%.
But as it was noted at the final meeting in the industry, the main mission of reproducers and plants is still the creation and supply of bovine genetic resources to the market. From January to September, they sold 2415 heads of young cattle. This TOP-3 of the industry was formed by Mir LLC of the Votkinsky district - 446 heads, Udmurtia SPK of the Vavozhsky district - 254 heads and Luch SPK of the Vavozhsky district - 153 heads.
With the launch of the project for the transition to genomic breeding of cattle, even more ambitious tasks have been set for the industry - the formation of a competitive breeding base using advanced biotechnological methods, such as in vivo and in vitro. Udmurtia is starting to develop the cattle embryo transfer using two world technologies. To accelerate the renewal of the livestock, a facilitated system of insemination with embryos will be introduced; for this, an embryo transfer station, as well as an analytical center and an elevator, will be opened in the republic in the coming years. And as a result, in 2024, genomic selection should cover the entire breeding population of cattle in the republic.
Now 14 out of 40 breeding farms (37% of the total) have joined the implementation of the general project, 12 thousand genotypes are already represented in the republican database. “Our own genetic resources must be of such high value that they can take 80% of the entire regional market and 10% of the Volga Federal District market. They were also in demand abroad - we are also focused on exports. We are no longer interested in subsidizing the purchase of imported breeding animals, therefore this support measure in the industry will be canceled,” said Natalya Shavshukova, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food of the UR.
In total, the Ministry of Agriculture of Udmurtia allocated 378.7 million rubles this year for state support of livestock breeding, which is 12% of the total subsidies. The most significant amount was allocated for the maintenance of breeding stock - 249.6 million rubles.
