About 3 million tons of grain harvested in the Tambov region

The harvesting campaign continues on the fields of the Tambov region. Farmers are actively harvesting corn for grain, SUGAR beets, sunflowers, and soybeans.

According to the operational information of the Regional Department of Agriculture, the Tambov grain harvest today exceeded 3 million tons. Grain crops have been harvested from 890,000 hectares of arable land. The average yield exceeds 33 centners per hectare.

Most of the grain was threshed by the grain growers of the Petrovsky district - 220 thousand tons. Today, the Tambov grain piggy bank is replenished mainly due to the harvesting of the corn crop. This crop was removed from 23 percent of the fields. More than 230 thousand tons of culture have been collected. In total, agricultural producers will have to harvest corn from 162,000 hectares of fields this year. This is significantly more than last year's figures (2020 - 137 thousand hectares). The largest areas are occupied by agricultural producers of the Rasskazovsky and Inzhavinsky districts - 17 thousand hectares each.

More than 10 thousand hectares of fields occupied by corn are planned for harvesting in Sosnovsky, Petrovsky, Morshansky districts.

Recall that in 2020, 744 thousand tons of this grain crop were harvested in the region. At the end of last year, the Tambov region occupied the 8th position among the regions of RUSSIA in terms of the gross harvest of corn for grain and the size of the area occupied by the crop.
