This year, a cool spring has pushed back the harvest of garden strawberries, which are popularly called strawberries. Night frosts in early May adversely affected the development of plants. The low air temperature pushed back the timing of flowering and interfered with the full-fledged work of pollinating insects.
With the advent of heat in June, the processes of berry formation and ripening accelerated. However, ripening did not begin everywhere, as it depends on the location of the plantations where garden strawberries are grown, as well as on the characteristics of the varieties. Therefore, not all berry farms have begun to harvest.
The first picking of berries took place in the enterprises of the Petrovsky and Tambov regions. 2.1 tons were harvested from 5 hectares of strawberry plantations.
In total, 6 agricultural enterprises and 15 peasant farms are engaged in the cultivation of garden strawberries in the region. Gradually, assemblers from all organizations will be involved in the work. As daily collections increase, strawberry sales will increase. Traditionally, it will be available at fairs, markets and shops in the cities of the Tambov region. In total, this year it is planned to harvest 600 tons of garden strawberries.
