Selection and breeding activities are actively developing in the Tambov region. According to the regional department of agriculture, in the six months of 2021, 169 heads of breeding young animals were sold in the Tambov region, which is three times higher than last year's figures for the same period. In addition, breeding farms annually achieve high productivity of the dairy herd.

So, for six months, milk yields increased to 4164 kg of milk per forage cow (the average regional value of this indicator is 3341 kg). The number of breeding cattle in the farms of the region is also growing - in January-June of this year, there were 10.4 thousand heads (101% compared to 2020).

In the Tambov region, 13 agricultural organizations are involved in breeding dairy cattle, as well as pigs, sheep, goats and horses.
The products of the region's breeding organizations are in demand both among agricultural producers of the Tambov region and other regions. Implementation also goes to remote regions, such as the Khabarovsk Territory and the Astrakhan Region.
