In all categories of farms of the republic, the number of sheep and goats is 123.1 thousand heads, including 84.6 thousand heads in agricultural organizations and peasant (farmer) farms, which is 14% more than in 2021, including breeding There are 73.9 thousand heads of livestock, and 58.2 thousand heads in agricultural organizations and peasant (farm) enterprises.
Particular attention is paid to the care of the livestock, coarse, juicy and concentrated feeds have been prepared in the required volume, the necessary equipment has been prepared, the ewes have been sheared, and veterinary treatments have been carried out in a timely manner.
“In the Republic they are breeding sheep of the Tushino breed. Many efforts have been made by farmers to ensure that one of the most important livestock campaigns goes smoothly. Preparations for lambing began well in advance. The premises for wintering were well prepared. All shepherds are experienced specialists. Today, this profession is in great demand and well paid,” said Deputy Minister of Agriculture of North Ossetia-Alania Ibragim Rubaev.
In the Republic, the lambing campaign will last until mid-May. In agricultural organizations and peasant (farmer) farms of the region, it is expected from ewes to receive more than 80% of the offspring of lambs in the amount of 49.5 thousand heads.
