Meat production growth observed in North Ossetia

According to the North Caucasus Statistics Service, the volume of livestock and poultry production for slaughter in live weight in 2024 amounted to 60.7 thousand tons, which is 6.2% higher than the previous year. The Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania reports that the main successes were achieved due to the successful implementation of investment projects and activities within the framework of the national project "Small and Medium Entrepreneurship and Support for Individual Entrepreneurial Initiatives", contributing to the growth of MEAT production in the region.
Agricultural enterprises, accounting for 7.6% of the total production, produced 4,630 thousand tons of products. Peasant (farm) households and individual entrepreneurs, whose share is 21.6%, ensured the output of 13,127 thousand tons. Personal subsidiary farms, producing the bulk of the products - 42,990 thousand tons, occupy 70.8% of the market.
The growth rates were particularly impressive: agricultural enterprises increased production by 110.5%, while farmers and individual entrepreneurs increased their output by 106%. These achievements were made possible by effective support for small and medium-sized businesses within the framework of the national project.
Minister of Agriculture Alan Kusrayev noted: “The implementation of the national project “Small and Medium-Sized Entrepreneurship and Support for Individual Entrepreneurial Initiatives” allowed us to create conditions for the sustainable development of the region’s agro-industrial complex. We are seeing significant progress, especially in the small business sector, which plays an important role in ensuring the republic’s food security. The increase in meat production volumes indicates that the chosen course of support for small and medium-sized businesses is correct. This is an important contribution to the development of our republic’s economy.”
The Ministry continues to work on improving the conditions for doing agricultural business, striving to further strengthen North Ossetia’s position in the Russian agricultural market.
