3 million tons of grain have already been harvested in the Saratov region. The HEAD of the region, Roman Busargin, announced this while visiting the farm of Pyotr Kuryakin in the Dukhovnitsky district.
The average yield in the region remains at a high level - 34 centners per hectare, the press service of the Governor of the region said. In the Balashovsky district, it reached a record 49 centners per hectare. The line of 100 thousand tons was crossed by 11 districts. Pugachevsky district was the first to thresh 200 thousand tons. The demand for grain for the region is closed, 800 thousand tons of Saratov grain have already been shipped to other regions of RUSSIA. Today, in terms of the volume of harvested crops, the Saratov region is in first place in the Volga Federal District.
Land reclamation is a guarantee of a consistently good harvest. Last year, Petr Kuryakin's farm installed equipment for irrigating corn on an area of 370 hectares. This made it possible to increase the yield up to 80 c/ha. It is planned to continue this work and equip another reclamation site.
In the region, the reclamation wedge is now 257 thousand hectares. According to the press service of the Governor of the region, the region is actively involved in the federal program for the development of land reclamation, and a third of all federal funding comes from the Saratov region. This year, 4.5 thousand hectares of irrigated land have already been introduced, and another 8.5 thousand hectares are planned by the end of the year. In the coming years, it is planned to introduce 140 thousand hectares of reclamation wedge.
“We are returning to our history - our region has always been strong in land reclamation. The irrigation support program has proven to be effective. The harvest on the farm in the Dukhovnitsky district speaks for itself. Now the program should cover all districts of the region, the Ministry of Agriculture should accompany each application. Guaranteed harvest is the key to sustainable development of agriculture, which should lead to wage growth,” said the head of the region, Roman Busargin.
