This week, gardeners in the Krasnodar Territory have begun selling the first batches of Gala apples, according to EastFruit project analysts. it should be noted that the Gala APPLE sales season in the Russian Federation this season began on average 10 days later than last year. Gardeners explain this situation by a shift in the ripening period of almost all varieties of apples due to a long and rather cold spring.
To date, single farms have started harvesting these varieties of apples, and the supply of these products on the market is still small. But, at the same time, prices for the first batches of Gala apples are on average 20% lower than last year. So, today gardeners are ready to ship the first small batches of these fruits for 50-65 rubles/kg ($0.68-0.88/kg).
Producers attribute the start of the Gala apple season at lower prices to the rather low demand for these fruits in the current season. It is worth noting that today the Gala variety is the most expensive of the local apple varieties. In general, autumn apples on the Russian market are offered for sale from 40 rubles/kg ($0.54/kg).
Recall that the variety "Gala" is the earliest of the so-called "autumn varieties" of apples that can be stored. At the same time, most gardeners are sure that prices in this segment will soon begin to decline, as soon as the majority of gardening farms in the southern region of the Russian Federation start mass harvesting.
