On January 14, 2025, the HEAD of the Republic of Karelia Artur Parfenchikov visited the production site of JSC Essoila in the village of Essoila, Pryazhinsky National Municipal District.
In 2024 , the owner of JSC Essoila decided to cease production activities in the field of dairy farming. Previously, the enterprise's production facilities contained about 1,600 heads of cattle , including 800 cows.
In this regard, the Government of the Republic of Karelia decided to acquire a controlling stake in the enterprise into state ownership. In December 2024, funds in the amount of 150.0 million rubles were allocated for these purposes from the republican budget to JSC Megrega Breeding Farm.
In 2025, the breeding farm intends to reconstruct the farms and place up to 115 heads of cows on the livestock facility, and begin producing raw MILK. In the future, the number of dairy cattle will be increased annually, as well as the volume of processed raw milk. The livestock for livestock farms will be provided by the breeding young animals raised in the breeding state farm, which was previously sold outside the republic.
"Our goal is that all raw milk produced by agricultural enterprises of Karelia should be processed in the region. This measure was taken in order to preserve agricultural production, the food and processing industries, as well as jobs in the countryside. In the coming years, it is planned to create up to 75 jobs on the basis of JSC Essoila," commented Artur Parfenchikov.
General DIRECTOR of JSC Megrega Breeding Farm Evgeny Sysolyatin noted that the enterprise has new goals and objectives, and most importantly, the enterprise's team is ready to fulfill them.
The Essoil dairy plant will work exclusively on the highest quality milk produced by JSC Megrega Breeding Farm. Today, Essoil products are sold in Sigma stores. The nearest plans include expansion of the range of manufactured products. With the increase in production volumes, deliveries of dairy products to the republic's retail chains will be established.
