The farmers of Prikamye have laid the foundation for the 2024 harvest . In 2023, in the Perm Territory, almost 23 thousand hectares of arable land were sown with winter crops for grain and green fodder, an increase of more than 11% compared to last year.
Traditionally, the main winter crop of the Kama region is winter rye; the largest number of hectares of arable land are sown with this crop in the Kuedinsky district. In addition, winter wheat crops are present in a number of territories.
The largest areas of winter crops were sown by farmers in the Kungur, Perm, Chaikovsky, and Oktyabrsky districts of the region.
The winter crop seedlings that have appeared in the fields will produce a harvest next year. As experts note, winter crops are less susceptible to summer and spring drought. In autumn, these crops develop a powerful root system and quickly begin to grow in early spring. In addition, sowing winter crops reduces labor costs during spring field work.
Also, in preparation for next year’s sowing campaign, 192 thousand hectares of plowed land have been plowed.
