50 people convicted of minor offenses came out to cultivate land from the cow parsnip Sosnovsky in the Moscow region. This was announced by the Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Moscow Region Sergei Voskresensky.
“Today, 50 convicted of minor offenses and sentenced to compulsory labor are also carrying out work to remove hogweed in the region. They work in 11 urban districts of the Moscow region. The largest number of convicts - 9 people, work in the Istra urban district, 8 - in Klin, 6 people each - in Volokolamsk, Taldomsk urban districts and Shchelkovo, ”said Sergei Voskresensky.
According to the minister, the people involved in the work carry out mechanical mowing of plants with mowers, trimmers, as well as digging up the root system with shovels. Each employee was given personal protective equipment, tools and equipment, trained and given recommendations on safety measures when processing dangerous plants.
“In the future, it is planned to involve up to 275 convicts for compulsory mowing of hogweed in the Moscow region. Work with their help will be carried out in 22 urban districts of the Moscow region,” said Sergei Voskresensky.
The minister added that the convicts who went to work mowing hogweed processed the largest area from the poisonous weed in the urban district of Klin. Here, cow parsnip has been cut on 37.2 hectares of land. They also processed more than 22.5 hectares from hogweed in Stupino.
