Over the past three years, the area under oilseeds in the region has increased by 13 percent and now exceeds 43,000 hectares. This year, oilseed production has increased by 22% compared to last year, with nearly 62,000 tons of seeds produced. During the visit to the enterprises, we discussed with management the prospects for further development of production and issues that may arise. In particular, we discussed opportunities to reduce electricity costs and enter new markets," noted Andrei Sanosyan.
Farmers in the region grow oilseeds such as rapeseed, flax,Mustard , rapeseed, soybeans, and oilseed radish.
"Oilseed crops in the region are traditionally grown by farmers in the southern and central regions. Oilseeds are not only highly profitable but also versatile—they produce oil for pharmaceuticals and cooking, cake and green mass for livestock feed, and are also used as green manure to improve soil structure and enrich it," said Nikolai Denisov, Minister of Agriculture and Food Resources of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.
As a reminder, 5.7 billion rubles in subsidies have been allocated in 2023 to support agricultural enterprises and rural development in the Nizhny Novgorod Region, of which over 4.8 billion rubles have already been distributed to agricultural producers.
