Ten districts of the Lipetsk region have started sowing winter crops. As of August 30, more than 22 thousand hectares were sown with wheat and rapeseed. In total, about 370 thousand hectares are allocated for winter crops.
At the same time, harvesting work continues on the fields. To date, 701 thousand hectares of cereals and legumes have been threshed, 2 million 634 thousand tons have been harvested with an average yield of 37.6 centners per hectare. it remains to harvest less than 1 thousand hectares. Threshing of areas under corn for grain starts in September.
Spring rapeseed was harvested from 58,000 hectares; in total, almost 60,000 hectares were planned for this oilseed crop in 2021. As of August 30, 96 thousand tons were collected. The average yield of rapeseed in the region was 16.6 q/ha.
Potatoes are harvested in five districts. Nearly 5.5 thousand hectares have been allocated for it in the region. At the moment, 491 hectares out of 5.4 thousand have been harvested. The gross harvest amounted to 13.4 thousand tons.
SUGAR beet harvesting is gaining momentum. Eight districts are already digging it. To date, beets have been harvested from 4 thousand hectares, 127.5 thousand tons have been received. The yield of beets continues to grow and as of August 30 amounted to 317.2 centners per hectare.
“Harvesting this year is taking place at an accelerated pace,” said Oleg Dolgikh, HEAD of the Lipetsk Region Agriculture Department. – The harvesting of cereals, legumes and rapeseed has almost been completed. Sugar beet harvesting started almost a month earlier. Next in line are soybeans, corn for grain and sunflower. They will start threshing a little later.”
