Agencies for fisheries and land reclamation are being created in the Kaliningrad region

During the meeting of the regional government on February 15, issues of creating agencies for fisheries and land reclamation were discussed. The work is carried out in accordance with the decrees of the Governor Anton Alikhanov.
The Ministry of Agriculture is currently being reorganized by separating the agencies for fisheries and land reclamation from its structure.
As Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Kaliningrad Region - Minister of Agriculture Natalya Shevtsova noted, the fishing industry, which includes a wide range of activities, is one of the most important sectors in the region's economy and is of strategic importance for ensuring food security in the region. For the development of agriculture in the region, located in the zone of excessive moisture, it is necessary to restore the reclamation complex. Without effective and timely water disposal, not only the stable development of the agro-industrial complex, but also the life of the population itself is impossible.
“Separation from the Ministry of Agriculture of the Agency for Fisheries and the Agency for Land Reclamation is connected with the need to solve a number of specific tasks and issues. Separation of agencies will allow to more quickly and efficiently solve the problems and problematic issues facing the fishery complex of the region, as well as effectively solve problems in the field of land reclamation,” Natalia Shevtsova emphasized.
The activities of the fisheries agency will be aimed at promoting the development of the fisheries of the Kaliningrad region and its production potential, pursuing an investment policy in the fisheries aimed at modernizing enterprises, creating new production capacities, increasing the technological level of production and the efficiency of capital investments.
The Reclamation Agency will continue to work on systematizing information in the field of reclamation, repairing and reconstructing reclamation facilities, subsidizing the costs of agricultural producers performing reclamation work, as well as digitalizing the reclamation complex of the region.
During the meeting of the regional government, the provisions on the new structures were approved.
