In Kabardino-Balkaria, the areas occupied by curly flax are increasing

In Kabardino-Balkaria, according to the latest data from municipalities, more than 5.3 thousand hectares of curly flax have been sown this year, which is 3.5 times more than the area of the previous year. In the preliminary structure of sown areas of industrial crops for curly flax, it is also called oil flax in a different way, this year it accounts for up to 20% of crops.
Some agricultural producers of the republic have been cultivating this crop in small quantities for several years.
This year, almost all curly flax crops are located in the Prokhladnensky district - 5.2 thousand hectares. The natural and climatic conditions of the region are favorable for the cultivation of crops, in addition, the plants do not need repeated pesticide treatment from pests.
The final product will be oilseeds for further extraction of vegetable oil and valuable concentrated animal feed after pressing.
Last year's experience of cultivating flax for the Prokhladnensky district was successful, which became an incentive to increase its production this year.
In recent years, there has been a growing interest in oil flax on the world market as a raw material for the pharmaceutical, perfumery, paint and varnish and chemical industries. Flaxseed oil is also eaten, it contains twice the content of unsaturated fatty acids than in fish oil.
