In 2022, the Shuisky Berries eco-farm increased the area under crops and introduced a new technology for growing strawberries in film tunnels on a substrate.
As part of a working trip to the Shuisky district, Denis Cherkesov, director of the Department of Agriculture and Food of the Ivanovo Region, visited a farm specializing in the cultivation of fruit and berry crops and discussed plans for the development of the peasant farm.
Denis Cherkesov examined the new film tunnels with strawberries and fields with honeysuckle. The farm has berry plantations of honeysuckle, garden strawberries, raspberries, red currants and gooseberries. The total area of fruit and berry plantations is more than 12 hectares.
Shuisky Berries is a leading farm not only in the Ivanovo region, but also in Russia, Denis Cherkesov noted. The most modern technologies of cultivation, watering and fertilization are used here. The farm is actively developing, introducing new areas for berry crops. In 2021, the farm received state support for the implementation of activities for the establishment of perennial fruit and berry plantations in the amount of 745 thousand rubles, this year - a grant for the development of a family farm in the amount of 5.8 million rubles for the purchase of special equipment.
According to Alexey Korolev, the head of the Shuisky Berries enterprise, in two years, seven high film tunnels were built on the farm for growing strawberries in trays on a substrate on an area of 0.9 hectares. This technology has a number of advantages in comparison with the cultivation of berries in the open field: a predictable high yield, the ability to control the harvest time, and an increase in yield. You can pick berries from June until frost. Due to the fact that precipitation does not fall on the berries, the shelf life increases. The plans for this year are to plant 5 hectares of black currant for variety testing to develop the technology and select varieties that allow expanding the plantation to 20-50 hectares using mechanized harvesting tools.
Let us add that the farm has put into operation a chamber for express cooling of berries from the field and a storage room for chilled berries until they are shipped to the customer. The farm also operates a mini-workshop for freezing and processing berry products, and the range of products is constantly expanding.
The main sales markets are the Ivanovo and Moscow regions. The promotion of products and the Shuisky Berries brand is carried out on social networks, as well as at thematic all-Russian exhibitions and conferences in which the farm takes an active part.
