Flax harvesting has been completed in the Irkutsk region.

This season, 413 hectares of flax were sown. Farmers have completely completed flax harvesting, and the ripened crop
is now being pressed into bales, followed by transportation to a warehouse. In the region, this industrial crop is cultivated by the agricultural enterprise OOO Klas in the Angarsk District. The crop is grown for the production of flax fiber and seeds, and is also used for seed trials. According to Alexey Lobytsin, Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Irkutsk Region, this year the enterprise not only increased the acreage under flax by almost sevenfold, but also planted four varieties of Siberian flax seed, three varieties of Belarusian flax seed, and experimented with Chinese and French flax seed. In comparison, last year, a new fiber crop for the region, flax, was sown on an experimental plot of 60 hectares. At that time, only one variety of seed was used for the trial sowing. "In recent years, we have seen regional agricultural producers shift their focus from grain to higher-margin crops, including oilseed flax and fiber flax. Cultivating these crops is attractive not only because of the region's favorable climatic conditions, but also because of their profitability. The market is volatile, and we are currently seeing an increase in Russian flax exports," said Alexey Lobytsin. it is worth noting that CHINA is the main importer of flax from the Angara region , and oilseed flax exports significantly impact the region's quantitative indicators in the implementation of the federal project "Export of Agricultural Products," which is part of the national project "International Cooperation and EXPORT."
