Subsidies for the maintenance of domestic reindeer with a total number of 567 heads in 2021 were received by three communities of indigenous peoples living in the Nizhneudinsky and Katangsky districts of the Irkutsk region.

1.4 million rubles were allocated for this from the regional budget. This was announced by the Minister of Agriculture of the Angara region Ilya Sumarokov.
“In the Irkutsk region, a program is being implemented to support indigenous peoples. Within its framework, the regional Ministry of Agriculture annually provides two subsidies: for the maintenance of domestic reindeer and for the development of traditional economic activities and traditional crafts. Subsidies are declarative in nature and are provided to communities of indigenous peoples,” explained Ilya Sumarokov.

Ilya Sumarokov also said that in 2021, following the results of a competitive selection, five communities of indigenous peoples living in the Nizhneudinsky, Katangsky and Kachugsky districts of the Irkutsk region received subsidies for the development of traditional economic activities and traditional crafts. The amount of funds provided is 2.15 million rubles. Thus, in total, the regional Ministry of Agriculture paid 3.6 million rubles in 2021 to support indigenous peoples.

“Subsidies are used, as a rule, for the purchase of snowmobiles and swamp vehicles, motor boats and outboard motors and equipment for traditional economic activities and crafts of small peoples: reindeer herding, fishing, hunting. Subsidy scheme: 90% - a subsidy, but not more than 430 thousand rubles, 10% - the recipient's own funds," the minister emphasized.
