Summing up, the First Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Dagestan Sharip Sharipov emphasized that such a competition is held only in the Republic of Dagestan. We receive feedback from colleagues from other regions and desires to host similar events. This competition is an important sign of attention to the profession of a gardener, since gardening, and especially intensive gardening, has been actively developing in the country in recent years. The quality of crown formation, proper pruning has an extremely large impact on yield. New technologies for laying perennial plantings have come, which determines the need for advanced training, training in new methods of caring for gardens.
“This is an extremely timely event, a kind of competency competition. In different regions of the republic, their own skills and techniques for caring for fruit trees have developed. On the site of the competition, we were convinced that there is an urgent need to improve them, taking into account the changing trends in the development of horticulture. In recent years, horticulture has been actively developing in Dagestan. More than 1000 hectares are planted annually in the republic. So, for the period from 2015 to 2022, 10.5 thousand hectares were planted, of which almost 4 thousand are intensive gardens.
The emphasis, among other things, is aimed at expanding plantations of stone fruit crops. The Republic of Dagestan in the Russian Federation ranks first in terms of production of stone fruits. In 2022, more than 75 thousand tons of stone fruits were produced, which is almost 15% of the gross harvest of stone fruits in the country. Therefore, such competitions and meetings allow gardeners to get to know each other better, exchange skills, and help popularize the profession of a gardener. We saw how Dagestan gardeners carefully listened to every advice of Nikolai Shcherbakov, an authoritative gardener in the country. We intend to continue to hold such competitions and competitions on agricultural topics, which will allow us to further develop priority sectors for Dagestan,” Sharip Sharipov emphasized.
Nikolay Shcherbakov, head of the jury of the competition, was surprised by the enthusiasm with which the Dagestan gardeners competed, tried to demonstrate their skills and abilities. it is noticeable that Dagestan really has vast experience in gardening, various techniques and approaches are successfully practiced. In his opinion, this is a unique competition that allows you to replicate the best practices.
