The largest pear orchard in Russia was laid in Dagestan

On Sunday, June 4, First Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food of Dagestan Sharip Sharipov got acquainted with the work to increase the area of pear orchards in the south of the republic.
Accompanied by the DIRECTOR of the Dagestan Experimental Station, a branch of VIR, Kishtili Kurkiev, he visited the LLC "Polosa" in the Suleiman-Stalsky district and the peasant farm "Sad" in the Magaramkent district.
LLC "Polosa" in the spring completed the laying of an intensive pear orchard on 55 hectares in the Magaramkent district. In autumn, the enterprise plans to plant an additional 30 hectares and in general intends to increase the planting area to almost 200 hectares. In the farm "Sad" 22 hectares are allocated for pears, and the farm is also going to develop this area.
According to Sharip Sharipov, the Russian Federation meets its own demand for pears by only 20% and annually imports up to 250,000 tons of this crop on average.
“This niche remains free, and Dagestan gardeners have begun to develop it, since the natural and climatic conditions of Southern Dagestan make it possible to do this very effectively. The pear orchard with an area of 55 hectares, planted by Polosa LLC, is the largest in the modern history of the development of horticulture in our country. And the plantings of the KFH "Sad" are among the five largest in RUSSIA. I think that other farms will also take up their initiative and, thereby, will make a decisive contribution to the import substitution of fruit trees,” said the First Deputy Minister.
