Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food of Dagestan Emin Shaikhgasanov got acquainted with the work of the sheep-breeding farm of Agrokom LLC in the Tarumovsky district.
According to the HEAD of the farm Nabiyula Magomedov, serious attention is paid to improving the productive indicators of the bred sheep. An agreement has been concluded with scientists from the All-Russian Research Institute of Breeding, who help to carry out grading, grouping of flocks and other activities on the farm. A few years ago, they began to practice the method of artificial insemination of the MRS. Under the guidance of the leading scientist-sheep breeder of RUSSIA, the author of three breeds Pavlov M.B., work is underway on artificial insemination of sheep of the Dagestan mountain breed using rams-producers of the North Caucasian meat-and-wool breed.
Emin Shaikhgasanov visited the farm, the place where work is being done to reproduce the herd. The artificial insemination point is represented by an arena, a laboratory, a room for rams and vestibules for inseminated and non-inseminated animals. In a conversation with the scientist VNIIPl and with the specialists of the farm, he was interested in the available equipment, the practiced method of inseminating animals, as well as compliance with veterinary, sanitary and zootechnical requirements.
“It is gratifying that Agrocom LLC in Tarumov is aimed at improving the quality indicators of its production using effective methods of herd reproduction. With artificial insemination, the percentage of fertilization of ewes is high, there is less risk of the spread of diseases, and in the subsequent lambing campaign, it will also be possible to carry out a short period of time. Only by such measures is it possible to solve the problems of increasing the competitiveness of livestock products produced in Dagestan, including sheep products. Currently, in sheep breeding, the emphasis is not only on increasing the mass of animals, but also on improving the quality of wool, since fine wool is in demand today. Let me remind you that the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Dagestan provides multi-channel state support for the development of sheep breeding, including measures of assistance in the selection and breeding direction,"
Emin Shaikhgasanov also got acquainted with the state of winter pastures in the Kochubey transhumance zone of Dagestan. Despite the spring-summer drought and long autumn winds, the condition of the pastures is good. It is gratifying that forage capacity has been restored in most of the pasture areas due to precipitation in September-October and warm weather, he said.
