The head of the delegation from Dagestan, First Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Sharip Sharipov shared a brief summary of the industry's work in the past year and spoke about the tasks for the current year.
“Practically for all types of crops, the indicators for the past year have been met. The greatest success was noted in the production of grains and legumes, the gross harvest of which amounted to almost 450 thousand tons, or 6.5% more than in 2020. Rice, of course, played a decisive role here, the volume of production of which in 2021 reached almost 119 thousand tons, which is 6.5% more than in 2020. This figure is the best in the history of rice cultivation in Dagestan, in the Soviet period, the best result in terms of the shaft was in 1987, when 89,000 tons of "white grain" were harvested, Sharip Sharipov said.
Another significant success is the record harvest of grapes in 2021 in the amount of 237.9 thousand tons, which is 13.8% more than in 2020. This figure is a record for the second year in a row, and the best result in the last 33 years. In terms of the volume of grapes produced, today we retain the first place in the Russian Federation.
In addition, almost 10% more fruits and berries were obtained, 200 thousand tons of crops were harvested, which is also the best result in fruit growing in the republic. An increase in vegetable production by 1.6% was also noted.
In the near future, the active phase of spring field work will begin, and some farms, taking advantage of the fine days, are already fertilizing winter grain crops, the area of which exceeds 94,000 hectares.
In the spring, spring sowing will be carried out on an area of 225 thousand hectares, of which the largest share - more than 68 thousand hectares falls on grain crops, including 26 thousand hectares for rice and more than 17 thousand hectares for corn.
Potatoes are planned to be planted on an area of more than 20 thousand hectares, vegetables - on more than 41 thousand hectares. This year, additional measures are being introduced to support those who grow vegetables in open ground and potatoes. Therefore, we believe that the area under them will increase in the commodity sector (in agricultural organizations and farms).
Taking into account the need to prepare fodder for livestock, 26 thousand hectares of Dagestan arable land are set aside for perennial grasses.
Today, the farmers of Dagestan are actively preparing equipment for the upcoming field work, purchasing spare parts, buying fertilizers, and stocking up plant protection products. The Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Dagestan, in cooperation with municipal districts, takes the necessary measures on a daily basis to fulfill the tasks set,” the First Deputy Minister noted.
