With the onset of favorable weather in the republic, there is an increase in the pace of preparation and implementation of spring field work.
Recall that in 2022, spring sowing will be carried out in Dagestan on an area of 225,000 hectares. Of these, almost 42 thousand hectares will be allocated for the cultivation of vegetable crops, 20.5 thousand hectares for potatoes. Rice is planned to be sown on an area of 26,000 ha, perennial grasses on 26,000 ha, and spring cereals in general on almost 70,000 ha.
The largest field of spring sowing is concentrated in the Kizlyar region (more than 36 thousand hectares), followed by the Khasavyurt region (33.2 thousand hectares). Sufficiently significant areas are available in Tarumovsky (about 16 thousand hectares), Babayurtovsky (16 thousand hectares), Nogai (12 thousand hectares) and Derbent (about 9 thousand hectares) districts. At present, the weather is favorable, the air temperature is already above 10 degrees. According to meteorologists, spring is expected to arrive early. Accordingly, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Dagestan sets the task for the districts and farms to accelerate the pace of preparation of sowing and planting material, and the solution of other tasks that are relevant for this period.
On February 13, in order to study the progress of the spring field work, the First Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Dagestan Sharip Sharipov visited Sirius LLC and Areshevka LLC of the Kizlyar region.
According to Abdullah Hasanov, head of Sirius LLC, rice will be sown on an area of 2,200 hectares. This year, for the first time, we intend to sow soybeans on an area of about 200 hectares. Traditionally, vegetable crops are cultivated here on an area of about 100 hectares, taking into account the relevance, this year we intend to expand the range of crops grown. Due to the fact that last autumn turned out to be rainy and the time for harvesting rice was delayed, plowing had to be postponed to spring. To date, about 1000 hectares of arable land have been plowed, the necessary equipment is available, the planning of rice fields has already begun, plant protection products and spare parts have been prepared in the required volume.
According to the head of LLC "Areshevka" Khaibula Khaibulaev, preparatory work is also actively going on in the farm. In particular, about 600 hectares have already been plowed under rice, which is planned to be placed on an area of 1000 hectares. Perennial grasses are also sown here, since the farm is actively engaged in animal husbandry, including dairy cattle breeding. We also intend to cultivate vegetables, including pumpkins, and our own vegetable storehouse for 3,000 tons of modern type was put into operation last year. The equipment is available, seeds are being prepared, mineral fertilizers are being accumulated. The farm also has 400 hectares of winter crops.
Commenting on what he saw, the First Deputy Minister noted that the leading flagship farms, as always, are properly preparing for the sowing campaign. In these farms, the fleet of equipment is constantly being updated.
“It is gratifying that the fight against soil compaction is being carried out by means of processing with special tools - deep looseners, chisel plows. It should be noted that overconsolidation of soils today creates serious problems for crop growers. It negatively affects the accumulation of precipitation in the soil, the development of plants and, in general, crop yields. The Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Dagestan is currently working to encourage farms to purchase such equipment. And we see that today such equipment enters the service of our farms and really shows its effectiveness,” he said.
Further, he noted that another important task of today is the feeding of winter grains: “So, Sirius LLC has 2,200 hectares of winter crops - this is the largest field of winter grains in the republic. Unfortunately, today in the Kizlyar zone, the lack of sufficient moisture in the soil does not allow for top dressing using traditional methods. Today, the farm is thinking about the need to apply fertilizer to the root, and this is an additional cost.”
Almost the majority of farms have the necessary stock of seeds, they are being worked on, including dressing. We call on it to be mandatory to sow only treated seeds, to use elite seeds, for which state support is provided. Without quality seed, you can not count on a good harvest.
As part of the implementation of a special program for the supply of mineral fertilizers, we are working with the largest producers of mineral fertilizers. Mineral fertilizers are already being shipped for the needs of farmers in the Republic of Dagestan.
The repair of agricultural machinery is being completed, more than 90% of the technical park has already been prepared. The necessary spare parts, fuel and lubricants are accumulated by the farms.
“As they say, a spring day feeds the year. It is necessary to organize spring sowing in the planned area. Under the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic, an appropriate Republican Headquarters has been created to coordinate the actions of all those interested. We are determined to carry out the necessary agrotechnical measures and carry out sowing in the optimal agronomic terms,” Sharip Sharipov noted at the end of the conversation.
