A research and production nursery of horticultural crops was founded in the Buryat State Agricultural Academy

The laying of a research and production nursery for horticultural crops took place on the territory of the Buryat State Agricultural Academy. Students, teachers and employees of the Faculty of Agronomy took part in the planting of 150 seedlings of sea buckthorn, black and red currants, gooseberries, honeysuckle and lilacs.
During the year, work was carried out to improve the nursery: tillage, construction of a fence, etc. In the near future, IT is planned to equip a greenhouse where it is planned to grow from 5 to 7 thousand green cuttings of fruit, berry and ornamental crops, future seedlings.
“The importance of organizing a research and production nursery plays a huge and significant role, since the development of horticulture in our region today is one of the priority areas for the development of the agro-industrial complex. In the nursery, scientists of the academy will carry out selection work to create varieties of the main berry crops. There will be an opportunity to get your own planting material and products that will be rich in vitamins and biologically active substances,” said the rector of the academy Belikto Tsybikov.
Students of the Faculty of Agronomy will look after and monitor each seedling. For future agronomists, the nursery will become a kind of laboratory, where they will gain experience in cognitive and practical activities. Students will learn the basics of gardening, conduct scientific work and research activities. Already next year, with good care, they will be able to get the first harvest.
