Pruning is an extremely time-consuming process and a very important procedure for the rejuvenation and health of a tree. In Belgorod gardens now is a really hot time.

Pruning an apple tree in winter is done in the same way as at any other time in order to properly form the crown and remove excess shoots. According to experts, pruning in winter is preferable, because cold air acts as an anesthetic, and the tree tolerates intervention much easier. In cold weather, there is less risk of infections and fungi, since at this time they are practically inactive, like garden pests. And even without foliage, it is easier to see the flaws in the crown in order to trim.

One of the farms where work is in full swing today is K(F)Kh A.G. Chmirev. An entrepreneur from the village of Novaya Tavolzhanka implemented the project "Development of K (F) X for growing fruits of pome crops of winter varieties in the Shebekinsky district": in 2018, an apple orchard was planted, and in the fall of 2021 the first harvest was harvested. Chmirev Anton Gennadievich, as a novice farmer, received state support in the amount of 1.5 million rubles. With the help of these funds, the farmer purchased and installed drip irrigation, as well as equipped the farm with the necessary trailer and attachments.

In total, there are about 8 thousand hectares of perennial fruit plantations in the region, of which more than 3 thousand hectares are of fruit-bearing age. More than 500 hectares of orchards come into fruition every year.
