The administration of the Government of Kuzbass held a selector on the issue of putting unclaimed arable land into circulation

The meeting was held by Chairman of the Government of Kuzbass Vyacheslav Telegin together with Deputy Chairman of the Government for the agro-industrial complex Alexei Kharitonov. Heads of 17 municipalities of Kuzbass producing agricultural products attended the meeting via videoconference. On the agenda was the issue of putting abandoned agricultural land into circulation.

Recall that last week the Governor of Kuzbass Sergey Tsivilev set the task of returning to agricultural circulation all the lands that were abandoned after the collapse of the USSR. According to Rosstat, in 1990 in the Kemerovo region the sown area was 1 million 375 thousand hectares, in 2021 902 thousand hectares were actually sown. The decrease in sown areas amounted to 473 thousand hectares. Of these, 141 thousand hectares of agricultural land was transferred to land of other categories. Thus, as of January 1, 2021, the area of unused agricultural land that needs to be returned to circulation is 332 thousand hectares.

“Commissioning of unused arable land is a strategic task for Kuzbass. We have fertile land, which can and should give the region a harvest. This is the food security of Kuzbass residents, and the contribution to the economy, and EXPORT potential. During the preparations for the 300th anniversary of Kuzbass, 43 thousand hectares of abandoned land were introduced. This year, according to the plan, it is necessary to commission at least 45,000 hectares, which is more than in the three previous years combined,” comments Alexey Kharitonov.

During the meeting, the heads of municipalities reported on the work to put unclaimed arable land into circulation, as well as on the reasons for non-use of land. As a result of the selector, letters were sent to all municipalities with instructions to conduct an audit of all agricultural lands located in the municipality.
