Sunflower crops grown this year on an area of 1.45 thousand hectares will soon be harvested by the Teros ZK company in the Kalgan district of the Trans-Baikal Territory. This was announced by the Minister of Agriculture of the region Denis Bochkarev.
“The experiment on growing this non-traditional agricultural crop for Transbaikalia can be considered successful. According to the agronomists of the Teros ZK company, the natural and weather conditions for sunflower production in our region are simply ideal - there are many sunny days, and besides, this plant is unpretentious and drought-resistant,” the HEAD of the agricultural department explained.
He noted that the prospects for harvest at the agricultural enterprise are good, harvesting will begin with the onset of frost.
“According to all agrotechnological indicators, the optimal time for harvesting sunflower in the middle lane is in November. With the onset of cold weather, unnecessary moisture leaves the seeds and, together with uniform drying, comes full maturity, which is necessary for processing into oil,” Denis Bochkarev specified.
The Theros ZK company notes that sunflower is a high-margin crop. There is a demand for it both in RUSSIA and abroad. At present, the economy has already reached an agreement with the enterprises of the processing industry on the sale of products. Next year, the agro-investor will start sowing sunflower seeds in a number of other regions of the Trans-Baikal Territory on fallow lands involved in the turnover.
