Harvesting vegetables and potatoes in the Stavropol Territory has approached the finish line

Vegetable growing is one of the most important branches of agriculture - a person receives the lion's share of vitamins, minerals and fiber from vegetables.

Agrarian Stavropol Territory provides the most critical buyer with a huge selection of high-quality vegetable products all year round. The region is famous for the production of potatoes, onions, carrots, cabbages, red beets, cucumbers and tomatoes.

To date, in the Stavropol Territory, with a harvesting plan of 10.8 thousand hectares, vegetable crops have been harvested from 8 thousand hectares in the amount of 105.6 thousand tons. Most vegetables were harvested in Neftekumsky, Ipatovsky, Izobilnensky, Krasnogvardeysky, Levokumsky, Arzgirsky districts with an average yield of 132 centners per hectare.

In the Budyonnovsky District, the area under vegetable crops in 2021 occupied 147 hectares, including 132 hectares under onions. Its main part in the district is grown under drip irrigation.

“After harvesting the early onion varieties, the Tersky SHP has already come to the end of the digging of the late ones. Now the most important thing for the farm is to send it for calibration as soon as possible, for subsequent storage and sale,” said Nikolai Onipko, HEAD of the Stavropol Territory Department of Agriculture.

Mechanized work with the help of an onion harvester makes it possible to collect onions in a shorter time, therefore, increased attention is paid to the timely removal of products from the field, as well as the smooth operation of equipment. After machine harvesting of onions in the storage facilities of the farm, they are sorted into fractions and cleaned from impurities, after which the vegetables are sent for storage and sale.

“Potato growing in the production of vegetables is a separate line. In 2021, potatoes were planted in the Stavropol Territory by 0.8 thousand hectares more - 6 thousand hectares. Already removed 73% of the plan. Most of the potatoes were harvested in the Ipatovsky, Predgorny, Krasnogvardeisky districts,” said Natalya Repukhova, head of the vegetable growing and melioration department of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Stavropol Territory.

At the same time, like all crop products, vegetable products are also subject to mandatory testing for safety indicators, only after which it gets on the table to consumers.
