In the gardens of the Stavropol Territory, the collection of autumn apples continues. Until the end of November, the harvesting of varieties "Granny Smith", "Renet Simirenko", "Idared" and others will not stop in the region.
“Picking apples is a rather stressful period in horticultural farms: one of the most labor-intensive processes, since manual labor is used. Apples are harvested carefully - damage to the fruits is not allowed, as they must retain their presentation and lie down until spring, ”said Elena Tambovtseva, HEAD of the crop production department of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Stavropol Territory.
To date, 33.6 thousand tons of fruits have been harvested from the harvested area of apple orchards in the region of 1571 hectares with an average yield of 214 centners per hectare, which is 60% of the planned volume.
At the enterprise OOO A.K. Gardens of Stavropol Territory of the Trunovsky District, 4,000 tons of apples have already been included in the gross harvest of agricultural products. Under favorable weather conditions, the farm intends to complete the harvest this week.
“In the near future, we plan to harvest another 1,000 tons of apples,” explained the general DIRECTOR of A.K. Gardens of Stavropol" Zaur Kazdokhov.
Stavropol apples are sold within the region, in the Krasnodar Territory, Moscow, Rostov, Volgograd, Nizhny Novgorod and a number of other regions, as well as in the Far East.
“A number of farms sell their products locally. In addition, horticultural farms in the region participate in various weekend fairs and work with large federal chain stores. As for state support, in 2021, the fruit growing enterprises of the region received 482 million rubles for the establishment and care of perennial plantations, which allowed them to recover 51% of the costs incurred,” the acting director noted. First Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Stavropol Territory Evgeny Grishchenko.
In order to provide the population of the region with apples for the entire winter period, the bulk of the fruits will be stored. Currently, 14.8 thousand tons of apples have already been placed in the fruit storages of the Stavropol Territory.
“The existing capacities in the Stavropol Territory can accommodate about 40 thousand tons of fruits. In the next 2 years, we plan to increase them by another 20 thousand tons. Against the background of the annual growth in the areas of laying gardens, this is a necessary measure for farmers. The presence of Stavropol fruit products on the market, especially in the off-season, can only be achieved through an increase in the storage capacity of fruits,” the acting head stressed. Minister of Agriculture of the Stavropol Territory Sergey Izmalkov.
Over the past ten years, the production of fruits and berries has increased by 2.6 times in the Stavropol Territory - up to 60 thousand tons in all categories of farms in 2020. To date, the organized sector of the industry employs 7,000 people in 50 fruit growing organizations. The total area of orchards is 11 thousand hectares, including fruit-bearing - 7.7 thousand hectares. At the same time, more than 600 hectares of gardens are planted in the subject annually, of which half are super-intensive gardens. Also, domestic planting material is produced within the region, which meets high standards.
