Harvesting of melons and gourds in the Stavropol Territory is nearing completion

The leaders in harvesting melons and gourds in the Stavropol Territory in 2021 are the Stepnovsky and Levokumsky districts. The Neftekumsk, Kursk and Izobilnensky districts are not far behind them. The agrarians of these territories have already harvested watermelons and melons, and the completion of the collection of a late-ripening crop - pumpkins - is on the agenda.

To date, with an average yield of 117 centners per hectare, 12.6 thousand tons of melons and gourds have been harvested from an area of ​​1.1 thousand hectares, which is 92% of the plan. This figure is 28% higher than the same period last year, where the yield was 89 c/ha.

In K(F)X Jalil Daudov, Shpakovsky district, the harvesting of melons and gourds has already been completed. The farm has only six hectares of melons, but next year it plans to expand the area under melons.
“We have a good harvest this year: from one hectare we have harvested 6 tons of watermelons, 2 tons of melons and 3.5 tons of pumpkins. We are currently preparing the soil for the next harvest. In general, the land in the Shpakovsky district is favorable for growing melons, in fact, therefore, we intend to increase the area,” said the HEAD of the K (F) X, Jalil Daudov.

Gourds in the Stavropol region are grown in 17 territories. At the same time, the main production of watermelons, melons and pumpkins are concentrated in the hottest districts.

“The main production of melons and gourds is carried out by peasant (farm) enterprises of the region. The largest volumes are concentrated in such farms as: K (F) H Rita Pak from the Arzgir district, the peasant (farm) farm "Ponamorevo" from the Grachevsky district, K (F) H Khasan Turaev from the Kursk district, as well as the farms of Izobilnensky, Neftekumsky, Stepnovsky districts, ”explained the acting.
