A record corn harvest is expected this year in the Tambov region - more than one million tons. This is 1.3 times higher than last year's value. This was achieved through an increase in sown areas, the use of promising, high-yielding varieties and hybrids, and a high level of equipment.

This year, 162 thousand hectares of agricultural fields were sown with corn, which is 24 thousand hectares (17%) more than in 2020. Farmers are increasing their plantings of corn because of the profitability of this crop, as well as the optimal timing of its planting and harvesting.

According to the Regional Department of Agriculture, the yield of corn exceeds last year's figures - 65 centners per hectare (in 2020 62.9). In some farms, the yield reaches 120 and even 137 q/ha.
The increase in the capacity of grain dryers also contributes to the development of corn production and minimizes risks in the later stages of harvesting.
