Tambov farmers have started harvesting buckwheat

According to operational information from the Department of Agriculture of the Tambov Region, buckwheat harvesting has begun in the region. The farmers of the Sampur region were the first to start work. Here, 623 hectares of arable land are allocated for cultivation.

it should be noted that this year the area under buckwheat has been increased five times in the region. Nearly 16,000 hectares of fields have been sown with the crop. Last year, about 3.5 thousand hectares of Tambov fields were allotted for buckwheat.

Most grain crops were sown on the fields of JSC AK "Tambovsky" in the Tambov and Sosnovsky districts - over 10.5 thousand hectares of arable land. More than a thousand hectares are allocated for buckwheat in the agricultural enterprise of the NGO "Pichayevo Niva" in the Pichaevsky district, as well as 700 hectares of buckwheat fields in LLC "Semenovskaya Niva" in the Rzhaksinsky district.

Specialists of the Regional Department of Agriculture believe that the increase in buckwheat crops will increase the volume of crop production, meet the demand of processing enterprises, and also meet the needs of the population in cereals.

Ensuring food security is one of the main development strategies that is being implemented in the region and supported by Governor Alexander Nikitin. As part of its implementation in the region, a significant part of the funds from the federal and regional budgets is annually directed to the development of agro-industrial complex. The HEAD of the region is confident that the support of domestic agricultural producers will provide not only Tambov residents, but also the inhabitants of the country with high-quality and environmentally friendly products.
