Tambov farmers have planted more than 3.4 thousand hectares of potatoes

In the agricultural enterprises of the region, work on planting potatoes has been completed. The culture is planted on more than 3.4 thousand hectares of fields. This is 100 hectares more than last year's planting volumes.
Most of the potato fields are located in the Staroyuryevsky district - 890 hectares. Over 600 hectares of potato fields are occupied in the Michurinsky district. Slightly less than 600 hectares of chernozem are allocated for cultivation in the Sosnovsky district. Agrarians of the Tambov region have planted 500 hectares of potatoes this year.
Tambov agricultural producers use high-quality seeds to increase crop yields, introduce modern technologies, including expanding irrigated areas every year. In addition, farmers competently apply fertilizers in the fields.
Tambov region is an agricultural region. Most of the population here is engaged in subsidiary agriculture. Therefore, the main share of potato cultivation falls on personal subsidiary plots. In addition to potatoes, Tambov residents grow various vegetables, fruits, and berries in household plots.
