Five beet-growing farms in the Saratov region were recognized as winners of the annual competition “Best beet-growing farm in RUSSIA 2022”, the results of which were summed up by the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia together with the Union of SUGAR Producers of Russia. When determining the winners, the competition commission took into account the sown area, gross yield, yield, sugar content and profitability of production.
A total of 93 beet-growing farms from 20 regions of Russia took part in the competition. From the Saratov region, the best were recognized as LLC "Novaya Zemlya" from the city of Balashov, LLC "BKHP - Repnoe" from the village of Repnoye, Balashovsky district, JSC "Ulyanovsky" of the Rtishchevsky district, as well as LLC "Zolotaya Niva" and the HEAD of the peasant farm V.M. Kravtsov. from Arkadak.
“In terms of average sugar beet yield, the Saratov region is in first place in the Volga Federal District and in fifth place in Russia. Traditionally, farms in the Arkadak, Balashovsky, Romanovsky, Rtishchevsky, Samoilovsky, and Kalinsky municipal districts specialize in sugar beets. In 2022, the area under crops amounted to 8.5 thousand hectares. In 2023, sugar beets were sown on 11.2 thousand hectares, which is 32% higher than planned,” said the Deputy Chairman of the Regional Government -Minister of Agriculture Roman Kovalsky.
The head of the agricultural department also emphasized that the state provides comprehensive support to plant growers . Thus, this week the regional Ministry of Agriculture completed accepting applications for reimbursement of part of the costs associated with the purchase of elite seeds. There is per-hectare support and preferential loans for the purchase of agricultural equipment. In total, it is planned to allocate about 1 billion 677.3 million rubles to support crop production in the region this year, of which 1 billion 339.4 million have already been transferred to budget recipients.
